Assalaamu’alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh…

How are you ? I hope you enjoying your days, introducing, my name is Surya Waskita, I am an active student at the STAN State Finance Polytechnic, in this blog I want to describe a little about one of my lecturers, namely an English Language lecturer. Immediately listened to this interesting story.

My lecturer was named Mrs. Khilyatin Dyah Nur Ikhsani, usually called Miss illya, actually first meeting with her I still thought the same as the other lecturers would come in to give material after it came out and finished but after a few meetings I began to change my mindset that she was different from other lecturers in the sense that there are special values ​​that may not be owned by other lecturers.

She teaches English, she is about 168 cm tall, she is a friendly person, smiling, hardworking, disciplined and professional. Even though she is single parents, she has a strong character, is steadfast in her stance, and has good time management, because she divides it in 4 ways, namely time with family, community, career path, and passion to educate as high as possible and she is also very humble and not arrogant in conveying her knowledge, even though the reality is that many people have knowledge but not necessarily civilized but civilized people must have knowledge, Like adding to my mood and affirming my target. She also has an interesting teaching style, she does not focus on many notes but rather invites her students to speak out opinions such as games, small discussions and from the discussion group to speak out opinions, and this suits me because it can develop the potential of each student and not only focus on memorization and indirectly support our education minister to invite students to talk more, not memorize.

From her I learned, when she came on time, she taught about the meaning of professionalism at work, the meaning of discipline at work and in carrying out an obligation, then she often did a lot of silence because she observed that we sometimes still had childish qualities, our high school days were still we carry until now. And that further changed my mindset about her, then sometimes she gave assignments which in my opinion most of the courses taught by other lecturers turned out to help us from the value of activities so that our grades in her course were good and did not disappoint our parents at home. Honestly I feel guilty and ashamed of myself, I overestimate others quickly that I forget that I still have many shortcomings

She has a humble personality, likes to be invited to discussions, is responsive to questions from students, invites students to be active in class and from that it is actually useful for us in our work environment, namely our soft skills in communication, in interacting with others, dare to issue opinions , and many more that she taught us. Honestly in this blog I am personally very grateful to Miss Ilya for teaching me specifically various experiences, stories, advice, the meaning of life and other positive things that you taught us and made me especially have a clear target plan in the future and the passion to achieve it. And I apologize when I first saw Miss Ilya having negative thoughts about her and I confess I was too quick to judge her even though I did not know her completely.

And then the last meeting yesterday, which I will probably never forget, motivated us all the things, That Attitude is more important than skill and knowledge, then I just found out that she is a single parent taking care of her child alone because her husband has preceded it, but then has a company and is in an important position in the company. Then she was also able to spend time with his family, friends, then continue her education until S-3 in Malaysia and God willing, hopefully in August 2020 received his doctorate, hopefully smooth and made easy Miss. She taught us that it is very necessary to improve the quality of self and not only stagnate in the comfort zone, must have clear planning for the future and learn time management between career paths, study to the highest possible level, family, and community, and that all he can do until now.

The umpteenth time I was very motivated by her, one of the lecturers I might now remember until I graduate and I work later and maybe until I have a family later. and hopefully the miss Ilya is given health and carried out all her affairs, I personally apologize to the miss Ilya if the class is less enthusiastic and more inclined to calm, success always ma’am, see you next time. Maybe that’s a little description of my beloved lecturer, honestly I do not know her specifically, and only limited to my observations in class when teaching to provide useful material and advice, all that.
